Today we are reviewing a diver from Sea-gull, one of the oldest Chinese brands that was founded in 1955. Although they are best known for their 1963 Chronograph, this diver is their "modern" watch, and I have to admit they did one heck of a job with this one.
Perfectly sized at 40.5mm, even though they day it's 41, and with perfect proportions between case, bezel, dial, it looks as classical as a diver can be, BUT, at the same time it is original and not another Submariner copy.
The curved sapphire bezel mimicks the bakelite bezel of the past, but looks modern.
Everything is beautifully finished and I love the case shape and finish. It also feels sturdy and heavy giving you the impression it can handle whatever you throw at it.
The ONLY thing I would change is the clasp, that I wish was done with on the fly adjustment.
But given the price of $420 (if you use my discount code GEEK) for which instead of a spurced out microbrand watch you get a completely In-house made watch from a 70 year old brand, it can be forgiven. Hopefully they adress this and improve in the future.
