An oil leak on a 2012 Subaru Legacy seemed to be coming from under the timing belt cover. Further examination revealed a leaking oil pressure sending unit (Subaru calls it the main oil pressure sensor). This video provides helpful tips in accessing and replacing the part. The procedure in other Subaru models with this engine will be quite similar.
