A 14-year-old student is in custody after a ninth-grade student was shot in the leg during a physical altercation in a school bathroom on Wednesday afternoon.

WGXA News was on the scene for the official press conference as Houston County Sheriff Matt Moulton and the school district superintendent provided new details regarding the timeline and school safety measures.

The suspect fled the campus following the incident but was apprehended about a half-mile away in the Huntington Hills neighborhood around 3:20 p.m.
