Stuart Pass lies in the shadow of mighty Mount Stuart and connects the Ingalls Creek and Jack Creek drainage basins. In this video, we hike from Esmeralda Basin to the popular Ingalls Lake and then on to Stuart Pass. From there, we continue toward the base of Mount Stuart’s mammoth sheer-cliffed northern face. The route past Ingalls Lake is rated difficult due to the steepness and the technical challenges of navigating huge boulders and expansive slab rock. Hiking to Stuart Pass is an exhilarating and physically demanding endeavor that rewards you with sweeping mountain vistas and striking alpine scenery. It offers one of the most spectacular hiking experiences in the Pacific Northwest.
