Zach Pope from Zach Pope Reviews reacts to the brand-new STREET FIGHTER trailer—and I genuinely cannot believe how ridiculously cheesy, colorful, over-the-top, and AWESOME this movie looks. Instead of trying to hide how insane Street Fighter has always been, this movie looks like it is completely embracing it.
Set in 1993, STREET FIGHTER follows Ryu and Ken Masters as Chun-Li recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament. What starts as the ultimate fighting competition eventually reveals a larger conspiracy that forces these iconic characters into battle against each other and some of the biggest villains from the games. The film hits theaters October 16, 2026.
Andrew Koji stars as Ryu alongside Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Jason Momoa as Blanka, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Cody Rhodes as Guile, 50 Cent as Balrog, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, and Eric André as Don Sauvage. Kitao Sakurai directs, and everything we’ve seen makes it clear he isn’t interested in making a completely serious, conventional video game adaptation.

I don’t need Street Fighter to be grounded. I need Hadoukens, insane characters, ridiculous fights, and a movie that understands exactly what franchise it is adapting—and this looks like it might deliver all of that.
