AKA Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. This is the Arcade version of the game. Played on Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection on Nintendo Switch.
Review – This was a fun playthrough for me as I was replicating the first time I ever played Steet Fighter 2. It was on a SNES in Curry’s. I read a lot about the game in the magazines and my first ever character that I chose was Dhalsim. I loved the idea of hitting the opponent at a distance. This worked pretty well for me until I got to Vega who I couldn’t get past as he was too fast. I had to go and never completed my shop playthrough.
Since then, I always thought Dhalsim was crap and everyone else thought so too. Until decades later, when experts realised he was one of the best characters in tournaments.
I’ve got good with him since but I still had a lot of trouble beating this playthrough. I was stuck on Guile for ages and had to come up with a way to beat him. He didn’t like the crouch medium punch so this was giving me options. I found that coming in close and using the hard punch headbutt was a real energy smasher too. This really helped me in the rest of the playthrough. The headbutt is OP. I wish I worked that out when I was a kid.
This game will always be a classic. It has been bettered by its own successors but it was a such a massive leap in fighters when it was released and will always be legendary.
