Asad Maken, Regional Public Finance Advisor at the UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub, and Ritesh Thakkar, Head of Asia-Pacific at Convergence, introduce the new Strategic Framework for Blended Finance.

They explain that to attract the private funding needed for climate action, countries must have the right policies in place. The publication serves as a flexible, practical toolkit to help governments move from isolated, one-off deals to a sustainable, large-scale financial ecosystem.

By using public funding to lower risks, blended finance makes it safer and more attractive for private businesses to invest in climate and development projects. The UNDP Climate Finance Network (CFN) is supporting this work by helping governments build the systems so these local, private-sector investments can be repeated and scaled up across the region.
