I stumbled upon this shot on Super-8 ad for SPFX Magazine with a stop-motion King Kong model. This was shown in conventions. It came out in 1976 (to coincide with the hype of the King Kong remake going on back then), and it was clearly inspired by, (and possibly spoofing) the Volkswagen commercial.
