This may ruffle some feathers, but I do it with love.
If your goal is to lose body fat, build muscle, tone up, or completely change how your body looks, most of your gym time should be spent strength training.
I talk to people all the time who want to lose belly fat and get leaner, yet they spend 45 minutes on the treadmill, 30 minutes in a fitness class, and maybe 10 minutes touching a weight.
Then they wonder why nothing changes.
Now don’t get me wrong.
Moving your body is amazing.
Cardio is great for your heart.
Classes can be fun.
The sauna feels awesome.
Recovery matters.
But none of those things will build and maintain muscle the way strength training does.
And muscle is what gives your body shape.
Muscle is what helps you look toned.
Muscle is what increases your metabolism.
Muscle is what allows you to keep results long term.
I like to think of it using the 80/20 principle:
🔥80% strength training.
🔥 20% everything else. Cardio machines, classes, sports, sauna, stretching, recovery equipment, etc.
But not the other way around.
Too many people major in the minors.
They’re looking for the perfect fat-burning machine, the best class, the newest recovery tool, or the latest fitness trend.
Meanwhile, the people getting the best results are consistently doing the basics:
✅ Lifting weights✅ Progressively getting stronger✅ Eating enough protein✅ Staying consistent
Just something to keep in mind. 👌
