The Novel Nana | Stop the Monotony- A rant on mundane, tedious and routine scenes that are boring and often cliche @TheNovelNana | Uploaded August 2020 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
In this video, I share my opinion on scenes that explore the monotony of everyday tasks characters perform such as: waking up, going to sleep, eating, getting dressed, brushing teeth...etc. Basically, all the things that drive me bananas when reading. I try and explain during my rant ways in which you may turn the monotony into the wow factor of the scene, by stepping outside the norm. Give us something different or exciting if you MUST use the mundane in a scene. But if nothing short of extraordinary or miraculous is happening while your character does the daily grind, then please...leave it out or breeze past it with a simple statement such as...they got dressed.
please...stop the monotony! I beg of you, to consider the words in my rant, and take them to heart when putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard.
