Same knife. Same sharpener. Two very different results.

One of the most common mistakes with powered sharpeners happens at the very start and very end of the pass. Starting with the belt already moving can create a swell at the heel, and pulling all the way through the tip can round the tip over time.

The fix is simple:
Place. Power. Pull. Stop.

Place the knife in the guide with the heel in contact with the belt, power the machine on, pull at about an inch per second, then stop with the tip still in contact with the belt.

It’s that easy, but you’ve got to pay attention.
