Remember your college roommate who was stoked on the philosophy of Fight Club and Tyler Durden? You know, macho neo-primalism centered around Zenlike violence in response to modern consumerism?

We like him because the film is well-made, well-performed, and motivated by dark emotions that occasionally drift through our psyche. It's why we love so many problematic figures, like The Joker, Rorschach and Travis Bickle. But these characters hurt people, and while you’re welcome to like them and understand them, you’re not supposed to root for their success. But these characters are intended to be cautionary tales, and their philosophies are meant to be rejected.

Yeah, it’s time to tell your buddy Chad to stop idolizing Tyler Durden.
