In the mid 20th century, visionary filmmaker George Lucas crossed paths with the teachings of Joseph Campbell--a scholar who mapped the connections between ancient mythology from all over the planet. The collision of Campbell's HERO'S JOURNEY and George's pop culture vision resulted in STAR WARS. The shockwaves of this space fantasy have influenced culture for half a century, while Campbell's works have become law in storytelling. With The Rise of Skywalker finally upon us, the supposed end of this saga, we decided to investigate whether we've reached the end of our own cultural journey and ask the question: are we ready to abandon Campbell's model?
