Glencore-Xstrata owns a controlling stake in the Tampakan mining project to build a huge copper and gold mine on Mindanao island, southern Philippines. The project threatens to displace thousands of people and destroy 10,000 hectares which are home to rainforest and the source of five rivers. Security forces have committed atrocities against local B'laan indigenous communities which oppose the project.
