In January 2028, Sony stops making physical PlayStation discs for every new game, and the entire internet is having the wrong argument about it.
Everyone's screaming "save physical media!" But physical media was never really the point. The point is ownership. When that disc disappears, so does the last thing that let you actually OWN a game instead of renting a revocable license from a company that can pull the plug whenever it wants.
Here's what nobody's saying: you can own a digital game right now, today, with technology that already exists. Discs aren't even the best way to do it anymore. So, the real fight isn't physical vs. digital... it's whether you have any rights at all as the person who paid for the game.
