It's tempting to let the title of an article someone shared on Facebook or Twitter boil your blood, and even more tempting to share it blindly to people who may follow you, but you need to stop and think before believing anything you read online. Clickbait has become a major scourge online in the past few years, and fact-checking can seem so daunting, but you have to do your due diligence.
They say a lie can make its way around the world before the truth even gets its pants on, and that's primarily due to the fact that lies feed on your emotions rather than the logical side of your brain. Knowing that, you can really start to focus your energy on discerning lies from truth. If something makes you emotional, especially if it invokes anger, think twice before buying in. Look at other sources and read the complete story. You just might find that doing so will help you become better informed.
