The United States was founded as a secular nation where the government would not establish any national religion and where the rule of law was paramount. Over the years since the country was founded many people have challenged laws, contesting how well many of them aligned with the constitution. Some of these challenges have walked a fine line between being on solid legal ground and being more in religious territory.
Many groups have been working, especially in the past 60 years, to implement their version of Christianity as the law of the land. They've worked hard to get more extreme candidates elected into positions of power and extreme judges within the court system that will interpret the constitutionality of laws more on their version of Christianity than on the actual constitution. They've gotten away with this for too long and it's time we start really talking about it and calling them out.
