Crashing a CNC machine because you forgot to enter a tool length seems crazy--shouldn't the machine know!? Also, shouldn't the machine know when the tool height in the machine is vastly different from the value in CAM?

Although it's 2021, CNC machines are sadly NOT completely self-aware (getting closer though). This video will help you tweak the post processor to change that and we're going to cover how to do this in the Fanuc/Haas control as well as Linux CNC a.k.a. PathPilot.

Now, the machine will alert the operator when there's no tool length entered or when the tool height in the machine differs significantly from the value in CAM, which means no more crashing for this reason!
