How many times are you going to buy the same idea wrapped in a different box?
In this video, I challenge the constant upgrade cycle surrounding modern MPCs, music-production hardware and gear-driven YouTube content.
This is NOT about hating the MPC. I still use my MPC Live Mk1.
It's about understanding the difference between buying tools and developing as a MUSIC PRODUCER.
Modern production hardware is increasingly software-driven. New ports, more RAM, different cases, screens and hardware configurations can be useful—but none of those things automatically improve your creativity, musicianship, composition, arrangement or ability to produce a great record.
You don't need every machine.
You need to understand the machine you already have.
Instead of constantly asking:
What's the newest MPC?
Should I upgrade?
Which model should I buy next?
Ask:
Am I making better music?
Am I developing my own sound?
Do I understand composition?
Can I arrange a complete record?
Can I work with an artist?
Am I improving my ears?
Am I developing MY workflow?
I also share my experience watching complete records and albums come together—from finding samples and developing beats to recording artists, working with engineers and DJs, mixing records, promotion and eventually watching a finished project reach listeners.
That's MUSIC PRODUCTION.
Gear is part of the process.
Gear is not the purpose.
THE GOAL ISN'T TO OWN EVERY MACHINE.
THE GOAL IS TO MAKE BETTER MUSIC.
