Associate English professor Susan Scheckel discusses a course she created during her two-year faculty fellowship. In the course, students learned to research Walt Whitman's life on Long Island, map those experiences onto his writings, geolocate where his inspiration came from, and connect it all on interactive maps and webpages. The Stony Brook Faculty Fellows program offers faculty members institutional support in creating innovative teaching techniques and integrating them into students' educational experiences.
