Helping people with disabilities live in their home independently is the goal of Stony Brook University Department of Mechanical Engineering research, where a robotic system can take over some
of the more mundane tasks of the caregiver. Robots would be trained and adapted to the particular environment by the caregiver, helping both the caregiver as well as the person needing the assistance.
