The Brythonic Pantheon | Stonehenge and Woodhenge - Land of The Living to Land of The Dead : Veneration of The Sun God @TheBrythonicPantheon | Uploaded October 2023 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
The symbolic procession from the World of the Living to the World of the Dead. Why were the stone circles built? What religious significance did they have? What are their relationship to the folklore terms Deosil and Widdershins. The origins of the Left and Right Hand Paths.
Long have we known there was a relationship between these circles and the cycle of the Sun. We examine recent discoveries that show a relationship not only to the veneration of the Sun God but also to the world of the ancestors and the dead.
The discoveries that are mainly attributed to professor Mike Parker Pearson at the Stonehenge site allow us to build a clear picture of proceedings that once took place. At Durrington Walls two miles to the North East we find evidence of mass gatherings and feasting during the Winter Solstice. We also discover another circle aptly named Woodhenge and the story unravels with a procession symbolic of the suns cycle from the world of the living to the world of the dead.
