Written by Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo, Eric Kretz, and Scott Weiland, Big Empty was originally released in 1994 on the soundtrack for The Crow before appearing on STPs album Purple. This acoustic version from the Arizona performance showcases the songs strong melodic foundation stripped of its usual production. Big Empty reached #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and #3 on Modern Rock Tracks, becoming one of STPs most recognizable songs. The Arizona Acoustic Set demonstrates the bands ability to reimagine their heavy rock hits in an intimate, unplugged format. The original version helped both The Crow soundtrack and Purple achieve multi-platinum success.
