While researching crime scene cleaning, I discovered that the most common requirement for the job is simply “a strong stomach.” That idea became the foundation for Joel — someone who struggles to stomach both the work and the trauma surrounding it.
Inspired by real stories from crime scene cleaners and my own family history, Stomach It visualizes emotional distress through practical body horror effects inspired by films like A Nightmare on Elm Street and Videodrome.
The result is a visceral story about trauma that refuses to stay buried.
