“Same Old World” was filled with pleasant and whimsical moments (along with some gorgeous backdrops), but I personally found the characterization of Lapis in this episode rather bland. While Lapis’ backstory had some fascinating lore details, the tale itself was incredibly basic and ended up feeling a bit uninteresting as well. The pros and cons balance out to make for an alright episode overall. Now that Peridot is going to get involved in Lapis’ life, I can’t help but have high hopes for the next episode of Steven Universe.
