Being such an old engine means that he has many stories to tell, and the other “Bluebell” engines are always glad to learn more. Here is the final story of "Stepney & The City Engines", marking the real engine's 150th birthday today, 21st December. Inspired by the lectures of the Awdry Extravaganza where, in his own words, The Rev. W. Awdry explained his formula for writing The Railway Series. As a love letter to both the books and the engine's big anniversary milestones this year, I have tried to truthfully make a 'what if' RWS book using the same page and word count, real life inspiration, and new illustrations to match.
My gratitude to Suddy Soap-Bar for so skilfully imitating the beloved Willie Rushton's narrations, and to SeaSwine9 for bringing this episode to life with a beautiful painting.
I will be making a Behind The Scenes video on how these stories came to be, so stay tuned for that!
