Did you know that Stella (Atari 2600 emulator) finally got Atari 2600 quality sound in December of 2018? Until version 6.0, the game sounds in Stella were mostly OK, but not great. One sound effect Stella really had trouble with was the ship landing in E.T. Thanks to the cycle-exact audio core based on work by Chris Brenner, Stella sounds like a real Atari 2600.
The video above compares the ship landing sound of version 5.1.3 to any version since 6.0.
If you listen to the clip below of the ship landing sound on a real Atari 2600, you'll notice that version 6.0 and beyond are so close that you probably can't tell the difference:
