We no longer have the space to keep all of our old video tapes, so instead of just throwing them away, my sister wanted some of the tapes converted to mp4 format to preserve precious family memories since the whole family used to watch these tapes over the years. I didn't have a way to convert the tapes, so I spent at least an hour searching Amazon and decided to buy the bundle edition version of the ClearClick Video to Digital Converter 2.0 (Second Generation).

Here's a link to it at Amazon:

The ClearClick converter came with a 32 GB USB Flash Drive and it has more than enough room to handle a whole tape recorded at 640 x 480.

The ClearClick is very easy to use. I play the tape and press record on the ClearClick, then press the same button again when I want to stop recording. I unplug the flash drive from the ClearClick, plug the flash drive into my computer, then move the mp4 video files to my external hard drive. After that, I delete the video files on the flash drive, eject it, then plug the flash drive back into the ClearClick.

I bought a Bi-Directional S-Video Female to RCA Female Video Adapter so I could plug my S-Video cable into the ClearClick for a more stable picture:

Works pretty good, but some tapes, especially EP tapes are going to be a little jittery no matter what you do.

The ClearClick converter seems to record around 4 GB, then automatically starts a new file so nothing is lost.
