LMS Jubilee Class 5699 Galatea passes though Warrington Bank Quay station.
Just had major work carried out on the steam circuit and is going on test by being thrashed on the main line!
5699 was built at Crewe in April 1936 and named Galatea after HMS Galatea, which in turn was named after the Galatea of mythology. After nationalisation in 1948, it was renumbered 45699 by British Railways.
Was withdrawn from service in 1964 and was sent to Barry scrapyard until it was rescued in 1980. In 2002 a complete rebuilt was started and in 2013 she returned to steam.
