Along our New Zealand adventure we stopped in Cambridge to visit John and Diana Olsen. We had the opportunity to park the campervan in their drive, but more importantly we rode on their sleek and speedy steam launch on a beautiful reservoir on the Waikato River.
Now, John and Diana are avid swing dancers, so naturally they named their launch 'Dancer'. Peter Sewell designed her hull, but all the sweat, blood, tears belongs wholly to John and Diana. What they produced was an incredibly light, slender, and fast launch that would be high in the running for fastest trailer-able steam launch in Aotearoa, if not the Southern Hemisphere... Unfortunately I did not get much footage of us going all out... Next time!
Now I've tried something new here; I had the opportunity to purchase a drone with the gracious help of Joel and Rosie Erikson (SL 'Whistl'n Dixie' and SL 'Carol Ann'). Of course there's no audio with that footage. Daniel Hicks suggested I give a narrative about the boat during those clips. Since I have a face for radio and a voice for silent movies, I pressed John into service to talk about their boat... Please let me know what you think.
