The Steam Donkey Engine
Designed to assist loggers in removing cut trees from an area. Cut logs, needed to be dragged to a stream or lake, truck or train in order to be transported to a mill. Originally mounted on wooden skids, the donkey would drag itself to a location and then be secured to a tree or bolder. It would then be used to winch the logs into position for transportation.
Here it is being used to pull back a tractor pull “sled”. Once in position the next tractor in the competition is hitched to the “sled” to test its pulling prowess.
