Evie (ChickasaurusGL) 🌺 | Static paralysing both sides after Double Kick (Ruby/Sapphire/FireRed/LeafGreen) @ChickasaurusGL | Uploaded November 2023 | Updated October 2024, 39 minutes ago.
This glitch was sent to me by blahpy. According to them, it was first reported 15 years ago on GameFAQs but went under the radar. gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/918915-pokemon-firered-version/41769517
It became more popular recently two months ago when a Twitch streamer (Krolm009/Tso15) accidentally encountered it. clips.twitch.tv/ElegantWimpyButterUnSane-jO5OF33Vsj3VGpY9
It's still under research so it's unclear re: similar potentially other undocumented cases with multi-strike moves and contact abilities or if it can desynchronise a Link Battle at this point. However, on the GCRI Discord, Polite Hoppip verified a variation with Double Kick and Poison Touch (Poison Touch poisoning both Pokémon), although they used hacking to give Poison Touch to Brendan battle 1's Mudkip and Double Kick to Torchic.
When a Pokémon uses Double Kick against a Pokémon with Static, there is a 1% chance for Static to paralyse the opposing Pokémon in addition to the user Pokémon on the last hit. (Also in this video, it says the opposing Nidorina's Poison Point activated but with Paralysis instead of Poison).
This glitch seemingly was fixed in Emerald.
