Here's a tutorial on how to make a simple electronic Escape Room puzzle using an Arduino, a string of plain low voltage LEDs, and four programmable Neopixel LEDs. The LEDs are inserted into holes drilled through a piece of MDF in an arrangement meant to represent stars in the night sky. Some of those stars use Neopixels rather than simple LEDs, meaning that they can be programmed to twinkle different colours.
Players find a star chart that labels the stars on the board with names which, when said aloud, sound like numbers. They must identify and read out the names of those stars that are twinkling, which gives them a numeric code to unlock a lock. For example, the twinkling stars might be: "Toohun, Dreddand, Sev, NT-9" = "279".
