The Classic Duel: Revenge of the Sith (2005) – Mustafar Battle
The most famous "Kenobi vs Skywalker" confrontation is the epic "Battle of the Heroes" on Mustafar in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. This roughly 7-minute sequence is one of the most elaborate lightsaber fights in the franchise.
Choreography and Training — Nick Gillard (stunt coordinator) designed it to reflect their master-apprentice history, blending Anakin's aggressive Djem So style with Obi-Wan's defensive Soresu. Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen trained intensely for months, performing most of the fight themselves.
Filming Techniques — The scene mixed practical sets (with real platforms and walkways over lava) and extensive green/blue screen work for the volcanic environment and lava rivers, which were completed with heavy CGI/VFX in post-production.
Behind-the-Scenes Highlights — Footage shows the actors in rehearsal, wire work for jumps and flips, and the crew capturing the emotional intensity. The duel was meant to feel personal and tragic, mirroring their real-life friendship off-screen.
