The Starship USS Miyazaki is featured in the latest Star Trek: Starfleet Academy episode. This ship is mostly seen as a complete wreck, after a system failure with a prototype singularity drive killed the entire crew. With the registration of NCC-316608, the ship was initially under the command of Captain Chi.

Miyazaki’s missions would go on to inspire the “Tales From the Frontier” comic book series. Starfleet’s War College would use the wreckage for terst missions in the 3190s, alongside the Academy.

The Miyazaki is likely named after Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki.

The on-screen information lists the Miyazaki as a Constitution-class starship. Yet this ship's profile does not match the known configurations of the classes of that name, even the 31st-32nd Century Constitution-class, which we see in Academy and Discovery, is nothing like this.
