Each year at the St. Joe’s gala, we host a capital equipment auction which invites guests to make a charitable ‘bid’ to support the purchase of much-needed medical equipment at St. Joe’s. This year, we hope to raise $250,000 to fund two new repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) units and the costs related to their ongoing operation at our Hospital.
rTMS is a safe, effective, and anaesthesia-free treatment approved by Health Canada to help those living with major depressive disorder. It has proven to provide relief to individuals whose illness has been resistant to traditional medications and therapy-based treatments.
