This is one in a set of 9 videos that can be used to determine the relationship between the stretch of a spring and the force exerted by the spring. The videos below are grouped by the type of procedure used to collect the force and stretch data.

Procedure #1: Hanging Masses on a Spring
Each video shows a spring hung vertically and various masses are used to stretch the spring. The gravitational force on each mass can be used to determine the amount of force exerted on the spring that is the same as the amount of force exerted by the spring. A different spring is used in each video for variation in the collected data. The links for all 6 videos are below.

Procedure #2: Stretching a Horizontal Spring Attached to a Force Sensor
Each video shows a spring attached to a force probe/sensor that is stretched to different lengths. The force probe reading is shown in real-time on a computer screen and the meter stick can be used to estimate the spring’s change in length or “stretch”.
