played on openmbu, version 1.17.4 specifically.
the first ever run to break the 36x barrier. and through a miracle that i will not be able to comprehend for the rest of my lifetime, the first ever run to break the 37x barrier at the very same time.
at the time of uploading this is wr by an unholy margin, and chances are it isn't getting dethroned for a long time.
i dont know how long this took. taking all my sprawl solo experience into account over the many years, this is easily at least 2x the time commitment that i've ever put into anything, even for celeste, and that includes WMFCG. 500+ hours would not surprise me. seeing how my goal was simply 36x, i got about as unlucky as you could have gotten. i had more than fifteen fucking 35x runs before this happened. i had so many of them that i lost the exact count. this took so much longer than it ever had any right to, and that's okay. i was able to play this in isolation, and no session ever felt like a drag or was mentally demanding. the rng factor, as much as it's a hindrance in going for high score runs, is the very same thing that never lets it become boring.
i had several runs ending in the 350's that were mere seconds away from being a 36x+, and pretty much all of them were flawed in the early game one way or another. this shit was ripped from my grasp by the tiniest amount so many damn times, halfway through this grind i was convinced that allah himself was divinely intertwining my ass every time a chance came up.
and then on sessions where rng was bad, it felt like i was attempting something completely fucking impossible and unrealistic.
this run was the first time i had ever entered the last minute with 300 points acquired, and that's when i realised that there'd be no remaining dignity for me if i were to fuck this one up as well. after hundreds of hours i was finally given godlike rng, and the pressure to not squander it probably left me with 170bpm throughout the entire last minute. so if you're wondering why the camera is jittery at the end, it's because my hand was severely shaking, and if you're wondering why i made that movement mistake at 4:13, it's because my vision was going blurry from nerves.
this isn't the hardest thing i've done in a game, because celeste, and more specifically WMFCG, is a crazier skill check in every aspect. but what i CAN say, is that this is the most unrealistic achievement i've pulled off in any game. demanding 5 minutes of really clean and solid fast play while having to win the lottery at the same time is just stupid.
