I bought a spot satellite messenger to let my family know I was ok on my wild adventures. It has a lot of interesting features and can help you be saved in an emergency, but most of all, it allows family the comfort of knowing where I am and how I'm doing... oh and it lets me get permission to do things like climb mountains.
