Today I used James C Brett "Marble" in Dye 3299 and a 4.00 mm (G/6) hook.
Want to add a Thumb to the Thumbhole?
There's just enough room to make 2 full split shells and a single shell in between. Mark the thumb hole with stitch makers in the following way:
1. Bottom of the Thumbhole at the ch-2 sp in the last Split Shell Motif
2. Directly opposite that spot in the underside of the Split Shell Motif from Row 8.
3. on the side of the dc st to the left side of the hole
4. on the side of the dc st to the right side of the hole.
R1: Join yarn in the ch-2 sp, ch-3 and begin a full split shell motif (this is marker 1). Make a regular shell (3 dc) in marker 2. Make a full split shell motif in marker 3, make a regular shell in marker 4. Join row with a sl st in the top of the ch-3.
R2: sl st across to the ch-2 sp and repeat Row 1 working the split shells in the ch-2 sps and the regular shells in the very middle stitch of the previous regular shell so they align. Join with a sl st to the top of the ch-3 and fasten off. For a longer Thumbhole repeat Row 2 again 😊
