In this demo I only use the legato articulation from Appassionata Strings (Spitfire Audio). At first I wasn't so sure about purchasing yet another strings library, but these strings seem to have such a deep, vibrant and emotional core, next to a smooth legato. I couldn't resist this inspiring stuff.
In my adagio you'll hear all strings, using the build-in mic 'MIX 1' preset. Release set to 70%, 100% legato offset and 10% noise floor efx. On the strings aux I use 50% amount of Fabfilter Rich Chamber reverb and another 50% amount of Fabfilter Amsterdam Classic Hall reverb. All is composed, mixed and produced using Cubase Pro 11.
Few tips for realistic mockups: in my opinion and experience it's all about the concept of making the samples do what you want them to do. That means automating and tweaking any or every given parameter untill it matches your desired phrasing or reference. Some library manuals come with a list of CC# transition values, that saves time finding them yourself.
