Alexandra chats to author of ‘Spiritual Queen’ and ’Positively Wealthy’; Emma Mumford.
Emma, formerly known as the Coupon Queen, used to work in the world of banking, but found her work was causing her anxiety and making her feel depressed.
After an ex left her in £7000 of debt, Emma had to think creatively and make a plan to get her life and finances back on track. She began a couponing business which went from strength to strength. ‘It really helped my mental health to focus on something and learn a news skill, and at that time there really wasn’t anybody else in the UK doing extreme couponing – it was very, very hush… I thought: “I’m just Emma from Dorset. We’ve got Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert, why would anybody want to listen to me?”
Soon, Emma had a thriving business, the press were getting involved and she began presenting on This Morning with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
Also a former atheist, Emma subsequently had a spiritual awakening in 2016 and began to realise that ‘although on paper my life looked great, I was just so depressed… by 2016 I was pretty much suicidal. I thought: “I’m either going to kill myself or I’m going to have to do something to change this. No matter what I had in my life, I just couldn’t be happy… I just remember looking out the window at 2am at night and saying: “God, help me!” I hadn’t used the word God in so many years. At that moment, my soul was like: ’Stop fighting this – rememberer who you are.’
‘The help did come. Within five days I remember going on google and typing in “How to turn a negative situation into a positive” and I don’t know where that came from and this woman came up… she was called Louise Hay. I had no idea who she was and she was talking about all this wonderful positivity and something called The Law of Attraction… I watched The Secret on Netflix and the rest is history… I knew this in my soul. It clicked for the first time in my life… It just made sense.’
In 2018, Emma decided to sell her extreme couponing business and move her work more into a spiritual lifestyle brand. She manifested a buyer using her law of attraction skills and the universe supported her to launch her new business and write her books, the latest of which, called ‘Positively Wealthy’, is where she helps others to tap into their own inner value, and follow their dreams so they can attract more wealth into their lives.
