Spirits and Demons: Music from Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away

Joe Hisaishi (b. 1950) is an award-winning Japanese film composer best known for his collaborations with animator, director, and Studio Ghibli founder Hayao Miyazaki. In the last three decades, Hisaishi has composed the music for some of Miyazaki's most popular films, including My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle, and Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea. Two of Hisaishi's most impressive scores, Princess Mononoke (1997) and Spirited Away (2001) are brought together in this new arrangement in which the music intertwines the story of a young girl moving to a new home who suddenly finds herself parentless in a strange world where spirits and sorceresses dwell and the tale of a young prince who gives up his past to help an outcast princess reconcile encroaching modern industry with the spirits and demons who will do anything to save the sacred forest that is being threatened.
