ABOUT THE WORK
Arguably the most iconic song in one of the most iconic Bollywood soundtracks of the modern age, Badtameez Dil (“Callous Heart”) is an uproarious and charismatic ode to exploring the unknown, living for the day, and embracing ourselves. This number is performed as Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor) reunites with his friends Adi (Kalki Koechlin), Avi (Aditya Roy Kapur), and Naina (Deepika Padukone) at Adi’s wedding—but he’s not there just to congratulate the bride. After falling in love with Naina on a friend trip to the mountains of Manali, Bunny, an avid traveler who thought his spontaneous lifestyle had no room for long-term attachments, now thinks seeing every corner of the world is only worth it with Naina at his side. On that same trip, Naina, a girl more comfortable around books than people, developed feelings for Bunny as his wild antics and carpe diem mentality coaxed her out of her shell to a life beyond academic success.
