The Spinifex Pigeon is a small Pigeon that inhabits rocky country in the Northern parts of Australia.
There are two forms, the Red bellied and White bellied which is the subject of my film.
They are a diminutive Pigeon, weighing in around 100 Grams, compared to the more widespread Crested pigeon that comes in around 200 Grams.
One can expect to find them feeding on rocky plains and creek lines, often with sparse Spinifex cover.
They will burst into flight when disturbed but conversely, can become very tame around human habitation. These delightful little pigeons have a gentle cooing call that they use to stay in contact with each other.
I filmed these in various locations in central Queensland.
