In this Spindle Spotlight I am featuring two more styles that are turned from one piece of wood. Quick clarification: I refer to speed throughout the video and after reviewing the video, I think duration of spin is the better term. These spindles are unique because even though the style/shape is pretty consistent among makers, the speed and duration of spin will vary . Because of this, this style allows the spinner the opportunity to better control the amount of twist in the single. These are also older/traditional styles commonly used to create fine yarn for intricate lace shawls.

many makers/design variety/lengths
good for lace weight
one piece design
Spindle Style Cons:
weights vary by maker
slow spin time
don't hold a lot of fiber
not great for plying
some fiber varieties more difficult to spin than others
