This is way, way harder to pull off than smuggling the Crysknife into Hell due to requiring some complex interactions of game mechanics, but it is technically possible. This video is a quick summary of the methods you can use to accomplish this, but if you're interested you can find the full version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ud98ZbwzQxU

Something that may surprise you is that the majority of this video is comprised of old footage I just never used for anything. (The only part that's more recent are the two snippets of Cannon footage at the very beginning, which might be obvious due to them using some light visual mods I put in for the Steam version of the game.) I intended to save that stuff precisely for this kind of video, and it did work out, but it's mostly just part of a big assortment of unfiltered and unedited Spelunky footage I still have sitting around since last year.

I already crammed this video with a lot of text, but some of the stuff I trimmed was important, so let me post it here:

0:53 - While a slave left in a three tile deep pit is unlikely to fling himself to his death (most useful in the Ice Caves), it's still dangerous to leave them alone. For one thing, if you have the ghost pop up, they can and will kill slaves if you can't get to them in time. I remember finding that out the hard way after temporarily trapping a slave so I could clear a level as normal.

2:40 - When you exit the Mothership, make sure you do so while carrying the slave and immediately exiting via RB (or whatever the equivalent is on your PC version). If you drop the slave before exiting, chances are they won't pick up the held weapon (likely the cannon if you're doing everything right) in time for it to count for the next level. I also found this out the hard way once.

2:43 - Yes, I do realize this is multiplayer footage. No, that's not how I ultimately made the longer recording. I merely put this in because it somewhat fits with the text and because it shows how it's comparatively much easier to do this process in multiplayer since you don't have to worry about finicky AI, just finicky co-op partners.

And as a final note: If you actually manage to get through the entire process, don't squander your effort with reckless cannon usage. The recoil on the weapon is pretty damn heavy, so try not to knock yourself into any dangerous situations. Putting your back against a wall helps, though be careful not to accidentally fire into the wall and instantly kill or heavily injure yourself. Also, be wary of any objects (even corpses) in the way of the cannon projectile. The blast can get caught on such things, and will injure you if you're too close.
