The Sound of Cinema keeps growing! This suite is from the Alfred Hitchcock film "Spellbound" (1945), produced by the legendary David O. Selznick. This Oscar winning score by Miklós Rózsa's was a pioneer in its use of the theremin (which represents the male protagonist's mental illness). Spellbound also marked the first and only collaboration between Rózsa and Hitchcock, since the legendary director "didn't like the music — said it got in the way of his direction. [Rózsa] never saw him since." Rumor has it that the intense disagreement about the music was exacerbated by a lack of communication between Selznick, Hitchcock and Rózsa. On the bright side, he did win the Oscar for Best Original Score, so I guess that makes up for it.
For this suite I used the only version available of the complete score, an official re-recording by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra
