In 1981 the british racing film "Chariots of Fire" was released, featuring an electronic score by greek composer Vangelis. This was very unusual, since the film is set in 1920 and up to that point the period was represented using sweeping ochestras.
The title theme (commonly known simply as "Chariots of Fire") is one of the most recognizable pieces of film music, and is an iconic piece from the 80s.
