Hello! In this video I will show how to make such a LUT.
Firstly, I need to make all the colors in the photo neutral, except for warm ones. This is very convenient to do on AB grid. I’m clicking at the end point on the color ray, then hold down Ctrl Shift and select the points I need with the arrow on the keyboard. Right arrow to select points clock wise, left arrow to select points counter clock wise. Now I will reduce the saturation to zero. That's what happened! It remains to make some adjustments. I will make warm colors more orange and saturated using Channel mixer in Camera Calibration mode. I will also move color rays of warm colors towards orange on the color grid.
Now I’m going to make green color darker. I will use Volume tool. Since I reduced the saturation on AB grid, Volume tool receives information about the color of the image, because it goes in front of the grid in the program pipeline. I need only to darken the colors so I eliminate the Lightening effect. Here's what happened!
Let’s go to Curves tab. I’m gong to reduce the saturation in the highlights, and raise it in the shadows. I’ll make the shadows a little darker. That's what happened! Here is before, here is after!
Let me show you how to fit this LUT onto your images. To do this, you need to use only two sliders: color temperature and saturation. If I increase color temperature, I will also increase the coverage of warm colors in the photo, and they will stand out in color. Here is before, here is after.
Let's see how this LUT works on other images. Here is a photo before, here is after. If I reduce color temperature, the buildings in the background will become neutral. Before and after. Let's see how this will work with a skin tone. I’ll increase color temperature so that all skin gets colored. If the skin color seems too saturated, you can simply reduce the overall image saturation! That’s all! You can customize the image with just two sliders! I’ll load more photos. Here is before, here is after. If you are not happy with the neutral areas on the image, you can grade them using Offset color wheel. Note, that Offset adds hue across the entire brightness range! The image at first glance is not much different, but the colder grading adds color contrast! In my opinion, it looks better!
